If you find yourself in a bad cycle that you can't break such as constantly scrolling on social media, entertainment, overeating/undereating, porn, lust or constantly seeking comfort? Check out this free, short online course. It's proven to have life long results and has transformed many lives.
God is the source of all good things and is perfect. We human's have a sinful (pride, lust, gossip, jealousy, lies, etc) nature and can't be perfect no matter how hard we try. God loved us so much and wanted to have a personal relationship with us. But in order for us to have a connection with God we had to be without sin. God loved us so much he sent his only Son, Jesus Christ, in order to live a perfect life without any sin, which he did. Christ came to this earth 2,000 years ago. He healed many people and set many people free. He experienced pain, suffering and betrayal. Then Jesus was ordered to be executed on a cross. He was brutally tortured and then was hung on the cross. He took all of our punishment for our sins and sickness. 3 days after his death, he was resurrected back to life (John 19-20). He showed he was victorious over sin & death. When we accept Jesus into our heart, he takes all of our sins and provides forgiveness and freedom. We get a new identity and eternal life. The Holy Spirit begins to transform our life and fills us with love, joy and peace.
Psalm 147:3
If you find yourself constantly feeling irritated, insecure, afraid & frustrated, these are signs that you need freedom. There are roots (areas in your life where you were hurt or allowed sin to take over) that you will need to ask Jesus to help you cut out. Take that step in confessing your sin to Jesus and asking him to help you walk away. Jesus has power over sin. Walk with a trusted accountability partner or community that can help encourage you & pray with you in the midst of your struggles. Complete freedom comes from surrendering your life and sins & falling in love with Jesus & knowing your identity in Christ. This includes spending time with him in prayer and in his word (The Bible). "The Truth will set you free." John 8:32.
-Daily prayer: "Holy Spirit, please reveal how much Jesus loved me, so I could love him too. Reveal to me what he did for me on the cross. Please reveal what things I need to eliminate in my life, so I could live in total freedom and give me the strength to overcome my sin today. Send me someone who I could trust, to walk with me in the midst of my struggle, so I can experience freedom quickly."
At one point you were hurt in your life by someone or you were hurt by your own sin. Jesus wants to give you healing & restoration for your heart today. The first step is you forgiving that person who hurt you, or even forgiving yourself. Also, you might be sick or someone you love may be suffering. Jesus has the power to heal. Believe for healing today, even if you might not see the results right away. Again, community is very important for healing. Having a trusted person and community who you can share your journey with and can support you in prayer is crucial. We aren't meant to walk through life alone.
-Daily Prayer: "Jesus please give me strength to forgive ____ and to forgive myself. I trust you to continually transform my heart. Please heal my heart and my body. I know you have taken my sickness on the cross and by Jesus's name I am healed. Give me faith for healing."
Also known as the Holy Spirit, is our guide and helper. When we believe and accept Jesus into our hearts, the Holy Spirit comes to live in us. He gives us the power to transform and renews us daily. He even teaches us truths according to the Bible and helps us to be more like Jesus. When we allow the Holy Spirit to control situations, the results are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, & self-control. The Holy Spirit provides us with gifts that benefit the community. You can read more about the gifts in 1 Corinthians 12:4.
-Daily Prayer: "Holy Spirit, please open up my mind to the truth and teach me as I read God's Word. I trust you to lead me and transform me. I know you are transforming my thoughts to be more like Jesus."
When you accept Jesus as your Lord & Savior into your heart, you automatically get a new identity in Christ. You automatically become forgiven, righteous, loved, chosen, redeemed, a child of God, victorious, free & saved. The enemy will constantly attack your identity by using lies and deception. He will send thoughts to you when you fall into sin and say, "God can't forgive you for that." "God can't help you with that, you're too far gone." "You will always struggle with that." Those are all lies. He will also make you feel condemned and ashamed. The Holy Spirit instead convicts your heart in love and leads you towards repentance, but not punishment.
-Daily Prayer: "Holy Spirit, help me understand who I am in Christ. So when the enemy sends attacks my way, I can stand firm by knowing my identity in Christ."
Prayer is when you directly speak to God. You can release your frustrations and speak to him about your needs. Or you can sit and be still in his presence and ask him to reveal his love to you. When you allow your heart to worship by singing worship songs, you acknowledge God is on the throne and he can take care of your biggest problems. Worship also helps you fight against the enemy and weakens sin. God's Word, the Bible, contains the TRUTH. God & his truth never changes. By daily abiding in the Word, you can build up a strong foundation spiritually and use the Bible as a spiritual sword to attack the enemy. The enemy can't stand against the truth.
-Daily Prayer: "Holy Spirit, please grow my faith in such a way that nothing can shake me. Please reveal what I need for today, when I read God's word. Transform me."
Freedom isn't a one and done thing. It's a daily decision that you need to make. The enemy will try to rob you and place other fears and lies into your thoughts. He will try to send people and situations to disrupt your peace and joy. The Bible (God's Word) helps us to become firm and strong. Communicating with God through prayer and having a community such as church or being part of a community group will help provide growth. So when life storms come at you, you will be able to stand strong in Jesus and know he will always turn "what the enemy meant for evil, into good." (Genesis 50:20)
-Daily Prayer: "Holy Spirit, give me strength today to stand strong, no matter what comes my way. Please protect my mind with your truth and give me understanding to grow and fall more in love with you."
Every morning you wake up, you make the choice to either see the world through God's eyes or the world's eyes. Daily, you chose either to walk with God or away from him. You chose whether to spend time in his presence and get to know him deeper or not to. You chose to either listen to the Holy Spirit or not to.
Walking by the Holy Spirit – The Holy Spirit isn't some loud voice that you hear in your head. He is a helper that speaks in different ways, but most importantly he speaks through the Bible. He guides in a loving way. The more you listen to him, the more your mind becomes transformed and you begin to have a mind of Christ.
Example 1: If someone tries to start an argument with you, he may give you a thought to leave in peace & don't escalate it further. Your flesh (mind) will fight this and a thought may come saying "How could they do that, I need to defend myself."
Example 2: You're about to watch something on your phone that may harm your soul. The Holy Spirit may send you a thought saying, "You don't need to watch that."
Humility – It takes humility (emptying one's pride) to submit to God daily. A person filled with pride can't fully submit to God because they will always think their way is better. They will continue to chose themselves and pleasures over God. The best thing to do is to ask the Holy Spirit to soften your heart and begin to transform your heart to become more like Jesus.
